40MM NATO to Honeywell/Honeywell North® (M27x1.5 Thread) Adapter
This prototype design for a 40 MM NATO, gas mask thread, to Honeywell/Honeywell North® (M27x1.5) threaded adapter. The adapter should make RD40x1/7 threaded full face CBRN masks compatible with Honeywell/Honeywell North® threaded chemical, combination, and particle cartridges.
Part Description:
40MM_TO_HONEYWELL_NORTH_ADAPTER_MONO.stl
One piece construction adapter, for Honeywell/Honeywell North® (M27x1.5) threaded filters that do not require clocking.
40MMTO HONEYWELL_NORTH_ADAPTER_INNER_SHELL_LOW.stl
40MMTO HONEYWELL_NORTH_ADAPTER _OUTER_SHELL_LOW.stl
Two piece construction, not for clocking purposes, but to be also backwards compatibility to outer shell from previous Gen 4 40 MM to 3M™ bayonet adapter if already printed. Tolerance are more forgiving, lower, to enable ease of 3D printer variation.
40MMTO HONEYWELL_NORTH_ADAPTER _ADAPTER_INNER_SHELL_HIGH.stl
40MMTO HONEYWELL_NORTH_ADAPTER _ADAPTER_OUTER_SHELL_HIGH.stl
Two piece construction, not for clocking purposes, but to be also allow backwards compatibility to previous outer shell of Gen 3 40 MM to 3M™ bayonet adapter. Higher tolerance parts requiring proper scaling and calibrated 3D printer.
Disclaimers/Risks:
1.) It would appear Honeywell/Honeywell North® filters have gasket on the filter side, but check to ensure gasket/o-rings properly sealed between cartridge and threads. Source a gasket or O-ring with a 27 mm OD.
2.) 3D printing materials are not resistant to many solvents, are water soluble, and degrade when exposed to chemicals. 3D printing this adapter is only a temporarily ad-hoc solution against biological threats. Once supply chain returns to normal, users should purchase OEM OSHA/NIOSH/EN standard approved adapters and respirator accessories.
Dev. Notes:
04/07/2020 – Initial model release. In work, pending support and feedback from 3D printing community for any fitment and model revisions. This is a proof of concept as I do not have either Honeywell/Honeywell North ® respirator or filters to check and ensure fitment.
