Foodi Steam Whistle Diverter

large_preview_FoodiSteamWhistleDiverter-

This steam diverter sits on top of the “Seal / Vent” valve of a Ninja Foodi pressure cooker lid to divert the released steam to the side, instead of up onto your overhead cabinets. The shape is “reminiscent” of an old steam train’s steam whistle.

You can keep the diverter on during the cook cycle without interfering with the original pressure cap. The steam whistle’s activation lever acts as a handle for moving it from “Seal” to “Vent” keeping your hand safely away from the steam release vent. It even diffuses the steam some, making it possibly safer.

This can be printed with no supports, if your printer can span a horizontal gap of 1/2″ (12.5mm). The other curves are all designed to allow 3D printing without additional supports, and it printed pretty well on my Lulzbot mini 2. The photos are of my print with no supports.

I plan on getting a small chain, like from Michael’s or Hobby Lobby’s jewelry section, to hang from the hole in the whistle’s activation lever. Chains or ropes were used on steam locomotives.

The FreeCAD source file is included, in case you want to make changes.
