Filament Holder

This design is of a reduced cost filament holder.

Materials:

-Rubbermaid 21-Cup Dry Food Container (QTY:1)

-Desiccant Indicating Silica Gel Beads (QTY:1)

-Digital Electronic Temperature & Humidity Meter (QTY:1)

-PC4-M6 Push In Fitting (QTY:1)

-Ø0.75IN X 3.50IN SCH. 40 PVC Tube (QTY:1)

-3M-30lb Double-sided Tape: 1IN X 1.75IN (QTY:2) & 1IN X 0.25IN (QTY:2)

Tools:

-Scissors

-Marker

-Tube-cutter / Hacksaw

-Razor-blade

-Scratch paper

-Super glue

-Drill with drill bit

3D Prints:

-PTFE Cap for Screw (QTY:1)

-Filament PVC Holder (QTY:2)

Steps:

1) After 3D printing both models, measure and mark the container where the PVC holders

will be mounted as shown in the images. Verify that at 6.875IN the width of the opening

to the container is 4IN before mounting the PVC holders.

2) Cut and mount double-sided tape to the PVC holders in the lengths mentioned above.

3) Using the marks made in step 1), align and place the PVC holders to the container as

shown in the images.

4) Measure and cut the Ø0.75IN PVC pipe to 3.50IN using the tube-cutter/hacksaw.

5) Measure, mark, and drill out the filament outlet onto the container where the push in

fitting will be mounted with superglue as shown in the images. The outlet is

approximately 9IN from the base of the container.

6) Outline the temperature & humidity sensor onto the scratch paper using the marker to

create a template for the cutout onto the container lid.

7) Align the template to the logo on the lid making sure the fillets do not interfere with the

sensor and cut it out using the razor-blade.

8) Mount the sensor onto the lid.

9) Add silica gel beads to the bottom of the container.

10) Use the PTFE cap when filament is not in use.
