Raising issues beyond JCPOA fail to save treaty : Iran –
IRNA – Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi said on Friday that raising issues beyond Iran’s nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) will not help save the multilateral accord; rather it would create further mistrust among the remaining parties to the deal.
Mousavi made the remarks in reaction to allegations raised by French President Emmanuel Macron during his Thursday meeting with US counterpart Donald Trump.
Despite of delivered speeches and political statements, the European parties have actually failed to fulfill their commitments under JCPOA to nullify the impacts of the US illegal withdrawal from the deal, the spokesman said, adding that they have also failed to prepare grounds enabling Iran to fully take advantage of the benefits of the multilateral and internationally recognized accord.
He noted that raising issues beyond JCPOA will bring the deal on the verge of collapse as the US aimed to do so with its unilateral exit from the pact.
Mousavi also said that “repeated, baseless and inconsistent claims” raised by the US president in the meeting were of no importance to be heeded.
