Iranian Muslims to celebrate Eid al-Fitr on June 5 –
IRNA –Iranian Muslims will celebrate the Eid al-Fitr on Wednesday (June 5) that marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, member of the moon-sighting team said Monday.
The date of the religious festivity is announced by Alireza Movahednejad, a member of moon-sighting team operating under Office of the Supreme Leader.
He said that more than 1,000 groups of moon- sighting will be deployed to various parts of Iran to spot the the crescent of the lunar month of Shawwal on Tuesday evening.
According to the reports of the experts, the moon sighting will be conducted easily, and therefore the moon-sighting team officially announces that Tuesday will be the last day of holy Ramadan, he said.
Eid al-Fitr, one of the most important festivities in Islam, is the first day of the lunar month of Shawwal in Arabic calendar. It marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan during which Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset.
