Hi all,
I have a project my boss wants me to investigate and pursue, and I’ll try my best to try to explain in examples what he wants. To preface, I have very little knowledge in Python or ArcPy, and it is something I want to learn, however I just want to know if this is a worthwhile endeavor (the project, not learning Python).
Essentially we need to “batch export” using the select by attribute and select by location functions. As an example– use select by name of state, and then select congressional districts by location within the selected state, and export this. Is there a way to write a script where the exportation process for each state and the districts within? Additionally, is there a way to automate exporting a map of the state and then a map of the state with the districts, using the exported shapefiles?
We have a very large set of maps we want to generate similar to this situation, where we have a map of the state and a map of the state with the congressional districts.
Any explanation or guidance would be appreciated, even a simple “yes, it’s possible” or “no, it’s not”.
TIA
