The first who rediscovered the planet was the [[Smuggler/Legends|smuggler]] [[Jerg]], who used it as a secret base of operations, before later bringing [[Sulon]]ese [[Alliance to Restore the Republic/Legends|Rebel]] sympathisers for their hideout; in that instance, their leader, [[Morgan Katarn]], discovered the Valley and the [[Force nexus|tremendous power]] it contained. However he never talked about it to anyone, until he met [[Qu Rahn/Legends|Qu Rahn]], a [[Jedi Master/Legends|Jedi Master]], and asked for answers. Rahn had been looking for the Valley, but refused to know more about it, as at that time they were battling the Galactic Empire; knowing that he would be caught sooner or later, he didn’t wish to have its knowledge in his mind, and adviced Katarn to record his knowledge on a map.<ref name=”RA” />

Indeed Katarn designed the map to Ruusan and the Valley on some stone plaques, which looked like decorative patterns on the ceiling of his [[Katarn homestead|house]]. Katarn left a holo message to his son [[Kyle Katarn|Kyle]], revealing the existence of the map and its significance; the message was recorded to a [[holodisk]] that could be played only by [[WeeGee]], their family droid.<ref name=”JK2″ />

Indeed Katarn designed the map to Ruusan and the Valley on some stone plaques, from the [[mining/Legends|quarry]] found north to [[Katarn estate|his estate]]. He combined the designs with decorative patterns on the ceiling of his workshop. Katarn left a holo message to his son [[Kyle Katarn|Kyle]], revealing the existence of the map and its significance; the message was recorded to a [[holodisk]] that could be played only by [[WeeGee]], their family droid.<ref name=”JK2″ />

Not much later, during the [[subjugation of Sulon]] the [[Ghost Battalion]] under [[First Lieutenant/Legends|First Lieutenant]] [[Brazack]] broke into Katarn’s home in order to arrest him; in that moment Katarn was away and witnessed the invasion from afar, and momentarily was worried whether they would discover the map. Not long after, Morgan [[Battle of the G-Tap|captured]] and executed by the [[Dark Jedi/Legends|Dark Jedi]] [[Jerec (Inquisitor)|Jerec]],<ref>”[[Dark Forces: Soldier for the Empire]]”</ref> who had also been looking for the Valley, coveting its power, but was unaware that Morgan had been so close to it. The homestead and the map remained undisturbed for the following years as Morgan’s son remained away from Sulon.

[[5 ABY/Legends|Years later]], after the [[Battle of Endor/Legends|fall]] of the Empire, Rahn resumed his quest for the Valley as did Jerec and his [[Seven Dark Jedi]]. Jerec [[Mission to Dorlo|managed to capture]] Rahn and [[Drain Knowledge|rip any information]] he had in his mind; although Rahn didn’t know the location, Jerec learned that Morgan, the Rebel he had kill years ago, knew it, and had made its map.<ref name=”RA” /><ref name=”JK2″ />

[[8t88/Legends|8t88]] working for them investigated Katarn’s home but failed to notice the map.<ref name=”RA” /> Kyle Katarn was tasked by Rahn’s [[Force ghost|spirit]] with finding the map in his home, and beating Jerec to the Valley. In the meantime the Dark Jedi were sent to Sulon, and raiding once more his house, they removed the tiles, numbered them, loaded them on [[Lambda-class_T-4a_shuttle/Legends|a shuttle]] with [[grav pellet]]s and transported them to [[Baron’s Hed]], expecting 8t88 to decipher it.<ref name=”RA” /><ref name=”JK2″ />

When Kyle and [[Jan Ors|his partner]] [[Mission to Sulon|arrived]] too at Morgan’s home, he played the recording of Morgan and found [[Qu Rahn/Legends|Qu Rahn’s]] [[Lightsaber/Legends|lightsaber]]; hearing in the message that the ceiling was actually the precious map, Kyle looked upwards, but the ceiling was already missing. This set Kyle on the path to becoming a Jedi. Jerec already had the map and Kyle had to find his own way to the Valley.<ref name=”JK2″ />

8t88 took the tiles to the [[Government House (Sulon)|Government House]] located in the city of [[Barons Hed]], where he deciphered it and sent a digital copy to Jerec. However, at that moment Kyle Katarn appeared in the tower and started asking 8t88 about the map. [[Yun]] had been ordered by Jerec to destroy the stone map,<ref name=”DF: RA audio”>[[Dark Forces: Rebel Agent audio drama|”Dark Forces: Rebel Agent” audio drama]]</ref> took it upon himself to protect the secret of the valley’s location from Katarn. Yun rode an elevator down from the roof of the tower and destroyed the map, creating a distraction that allowed 8t88 to escape.<ref name=”RA” /><ref name=”JK2″ />
