Robovacs keep losing map – July 22, 2022 at 08:08AM

I’ll spend a week or two tweaking a map, adding no-go zones, resizing no-mop zones, splitting rooms to get just the right surface area to usually fill the bin, etc and I finally get a good functional map. Then something happens, it runs out of power, app glitches, and it just … loses the map. This is especially frustrating since each time it does this, because of “hazards” that trip up the robot, each repeat maiden voyage requires that I escort the little guy around the entire upstairs as it relearns where everything is.

On my L70 that stays on the main level, this only happens every 6-9 months. On my X8 that I take between the upstairs and the basement, it happens every month or so. I have been careful to use the Manage Maps – Multi-Map feature. However, switching between them seems … risky.

The hardest part is that it doesn’t follow the same events each time. It seems there are multiple situations where it can happen. I consider it a bug and would very much appreciate getting fixed, but in the meantime…

Please let me save the maps outside of the app. Let me export to Google Drive or something. Then, when the inevitable happens and it loses the map again, I can just re-import from the file and have my zones, my rooms, etc all back to what I had configured. This would also be a useful feature if I wish to buy another robot and would prefer to avoid having to rebuild the map from scratch.
