Did Grand Moff Tarkin know Darth Vader was Anakin? According to the canon novel Tarkin by James Luceno, the answer is mostly yes. Tarkin had suspicions that Vader and Anakin were one in the same, based on his interactions with the Jedi Knight on Lola Sayu during the Clone Wars. He also expressed regret that his actions during the trial of Anakin’s Padawan, Ahsoka Tano, had created a rift in their growing relationship. So Tarkin didn’t know for certain, but he operated under the assumption that his intuition was correct.
