505 ft long guided missile destroyer USS Arleigh Burke (DDG-51) departs Naval Station Norfolk, 26 March, 2021 — named for Admiral Arleigh A. Burke, and commissioned in 1991, it is the lead ship of the Arleigh Burke-class of guided missile destroyer.
Arleigh Burke will replace USS Donald Cook (DDG 75) as one of the United States Navy’s four forward deployed naval forces (FDNF) located in Spain; Joining USS Ross (DDG 71), USS Roosevelt (DDG 80), and USS Porter (DDG 78) as the newest member of FDNF Rota.
