When people are outdoors they are able to see plants and flowers and the many fluid shapes and patterns that exist in the natural world; however, when we are indoors, we are deprived of many of these aspects of nature. The purpose of my project was to create a pencil holder that has a natural, fluid shape and a spot for a small plant, which together brings the natural world into the workspace in a small and portable design. Some obstacles I came up against while designing my pencil holder were getting the curved lines to print as smoothly as possible and making sure that there were no straight edges. If I could redesign my pencil holder again, something I would change is making the slots for the pencils and the eraser a universal size, so that anyone could use any sized pencil and eraser with it. 3D printing strengthened my project because 3D printers can create the wonderful curves of my design in a quick amount of time as well as print in a variety of colors.
