Double Fan Duct for E3DV6 Heatsink (Push Pull Method) – Improves Cooling on the E3DV6 Heatsink and Barrel (and PTFE if you´re not using All Metal).
The reason why I designed this was to improve the cooling in a E3D V6 + All metal barrel + Volcano Hotend; all of them clons (by Trianglelab).
I wanted to be able to print with PLA with this configuration, because i was having constant clogs that appeared to be just before the filament entered to the Volcano Nozzle, inside the heater block (After a couple of minutes of print, extruding stopped or extruder stepper started to skip steps).
After a lot of trial and error and a lot of effort trying to print with PLA (Plus a lot of reading of forums discussing this problem and similar) my conclusion is: DON´T PRINT WITH PLA IF YOU HAVE AN ALL METAL BARREL (At least don´t if you own a Clon, but I´ve red of many Owners of original E3Ds having the same problem or similar)…
So… The Improved cooling on the Heatsink wasn´t enough to prevent PLA from clogging… I switched to PETG and I´m printing flawlessly so far. If I wan´t to print with PLA Again I`ll have to switch to a PTFE inner barrel.
Please comment if you succes to print with PLA using an E3DV6 + All metal Barrel, clon or original.
P.D: You´ll need at least 4 M3x20mm bolts. – Remember putting one 30×30 fan “pushing” air into the HS and the other “pulling” air from it:
