Why do the Sith get yellow eyes? First, it’s not just a thing that happens to the Sith, but all dark side users when they are really tapping into their fear, anger, and or hatred. The Star Wars Visual Encyclopedia says, “When rage and anger seethe inside a dark side user, their eyes may burn yellow with a fiery-red rim.” But to take things a step further, their eyes turn yellow because the dark side is a destructive and corruptive power. The dark side is a poison and its use will often manifest in the physical appearance of the user. Yellow eyes are a symptom of medical conditions like jaundice. Real world studies suggest a link between anger and heart disease, risk of stroke, your immune system, your mental state, and more. I think the yellow eyes are meant to reflect the negative physical effects that emotions like anger and hatred can have on a person in the real world.
