He was originally from the planet Artemesium, a new world to the Star Wars universe. Like all Jedi, he was taken from his family at a young age. But within the Order he saw the Republic decide to strip his homeworld for resources. It was a resource said to be used to save lives, but it still left Aremesium completely ruined in the end. And the Jedi stood by and did nothing in service of the Republic they served.
