PoE Map device – April 22, 2023 at 10:01AM

PoE Map device

Printable map device (from Path of Exile) with simple and functional rings

This printable adaptation of the map device from Path Of Exile is composed

of 4 differents parts :

  • The rings, printed in one go, the “map” relief is only on one side

  • All the axis, printed in one go

  • The 2 half base (separated because of the size of the base) — no supports needed

  • The 6 statues, printed one by one or more — with supports

If you have gold silk filament for the statues and ring it give a very good visual result.

How it works:

  • Print all the parts (the final rings are like Ø15cm)

  • Combine the base with glue or anything you want

  • Weld the axis following the indications from the “Cartography_device Axis PLAN.png”

axis are welded (or glued) on one side and free on the other each time to allow them to turn properly

  • “Clip” the all six statues back on the largest ring (represented at the bottom of the “Cartography_device PLAN.png”)

  • Glue all the statues on the base (BEWARE of the fact that this will be non-removable so preview exactly where you have to put the exterior axis of the rings)

Enjoy.

To go further with this design you can design something with a little electric engine and an interruptor to turn the rings automatically

You can see a restult on the video I uploaded on Cult (same page from where you downloaded) I coupled the ring system with a motor and a pushing platform where a induction based smartphone charger lay underneath, so you can charge your phone and it will push the platform and launch the rotation of the rings.

  • The base is printed with 0.3 mm thickness (it’s just a support for the ring so take too much time to print them)

  • Statues are printed with 0.2 or 0.1 depending of the quality you want

  • Rings are printed with 0.2 and make sure the axis can pass through the holes

  • When the axis are printed take care of the order and length, they are designed for a specific ring.

  • BEWARE of the scale of each print, when you fix the size you want be sure to apply this scale to each part before printing!

  • My constuct in the video is bas around an external ring wich is Ø15cm. So each of the other pieces is based with the same scale, the overall diammeter is something like 20cm
