Hey everyone! I’m completely new to GIS… Looking for a way to create a transit oriented map for my town that is easy to use and read and could be hosted on a website. And ideally is free to use. Been looking at everything from metrodreaming to Mapbox, to QGIS, and everything in between. There are so many options. I do not have much coding experience so the more user friendly the better. Obviously that is a lot to ask for haha.
I was thinking of using something like openstreetmap with Leaflet, and grabbing the GeoJSON data off transit.land of the transit routes to overlay onto the map. Or I suppose I could just add the data to openstreemap and be done. But ideally would be able to tailor the map so I can make it readable without extra info clogging up space. Was even thinking of ways to use transit.land‘s api (another thing I know not much about) so that the map would always be up to date since they are linked to the transit GTFS data.
I found a site called mapme which seems very visually pleasing though it costs $ and wouldn’t be linked to GTFS data: https://viewer.mapme.com/reconnect
Too many options and no experience – anyone have experience doing a similar project or have any suggestions?
