[OC] [Map] Collection of maps, tokens and portraits for a desert-themed low-fantasy Renaissance campaign – April 15, 2023 at 10:09AM

Posting a lot of pictures handmade in Adobe Illustrator by me. Originally created to host an online Roll20 campaign, but it didn’t take off.

In summary:

  • Minimalist high-res battle maps in sandy, rocky and watery environments. (1 large underground town and a few surrounding maps)

  • Around 150 top-down sprites of desert commoners, nobles, furniture, animals, late-medieval warriors, scimitar-bearing assassins, musketeer goblins, skeletons with zweihanders.

  • Portraits handpicked from internet and midjourney ai that match the sprites. I tried using only those that look like Orientalist/Renaissance paintings. Or, at least, low-fantasy.

  • A few chess-like figurines to represent parties on worldmap

  • Continent-scale worldmap (you can translate it to your language without much effort)

All images are separate, so you can layer characters on top of furniture on top of maps. Looks sorta like this once you’re done. https://i.imgur.com/ZaiO5lZ.png

Illustrator source files included – you can recolor, create similar tokens, relabel and take maps apart quite quickly if you know how to edit vector images.

The premise was as following:

On a continent where Sun never sets, a powerful player-controlled noble gathers a fleet to set sail to a new land and flee from the ecological catastrophe. To do so, they must unite three rivaling factions: northern merchant republic of necromancers, eastern nomadic goblin tsardom and southern isolationist undergrounder society of humans.

Largely inspired by conquistador era and Tyranny crpg. You can use this however you want, I don’t care about credit.
