Good map sites/programs for a ‘real world’ map? – March 30, 2023 at 11:14AM

Hi all, I’m compiling all of The Lore from my project on World Anvil to help the other collaborators on my project right now. One thing that I’d like to do is make a decent map to physically track events/history. There’s a bunch of cool fantasy world map programs out there, but the problem is that our project takes place in an alternate history of ‘our’ world.

Now, I could easily just upload a high-resolution map of the world from Google Images or whatever to use, but I love the cool edits and features I’ve seen people put into their fantasy maps. Is there a decent website or program I could use to make a dynamic map of the ‘real’ world, or at least a really good template I can edit for my sinister purposes?

I’ll also note that my Photoshop skills are minimal at best, so the more idiot-proof the resource, the better.
