I’m trying to replace 95 GB of free space on my drive with an actual partition, but I keep getting lots of problems.
If I use Disk Utility in Leopard on the drive I am partitioning, it gets stuck on “modifying partition map”.
If I boot from a Leopard install DVD and run disk utility there, it tells me “MediaKit reports partition (map) too small”. All of the information I could find on this error with Google was for Intel Macs running Catalina and people saying to use a GParted live disk, which certainly does not support PowerPC.
If I use target disk mode and try to partition it on another Mac running Mavericks, it gives me an error about resizing partitions mapped for OS 9 not being supported.
I think that what’s happening is that OS 9’s drive setup couldn’t recognise that my drive was 256 GB, so it incorrectly partitioned just the first 150 something GB.
Is there any way to fix this without absolutely destroying OS 9 support?
Computer: eMac G4 USB 2.0 Operating systems: Mac OS 9.2.2, Mac OS X 10.4.11, Mac OS X 10.5.8
