Best way(optimizing) to model a Path on a Map(Beginner/Intermediary here) – February 16, 2023 at 10:00AM

Hello!!

I have average knowledge about Fusion 360 and I would like some help with the following situation.

I recently did the Saltankatay Trek, a 5 days trail in Peru where the Incas used to walk until Machu Picchu.

I would like to make a frame as a souvenir and for that I intend to model the path of the trail on top of the map and print on my 3d printer, also simulating the altitude (example: every 1km of altitude = 0.5 cm).

I using canvas of the map to create the path. I have already tested (see images) a simple version with part of the map but without changing the height)

The problem is, given my average knowledge, the best way I found was to create splines along the path, create a cylinder, and traverse that cylinder along the path. Due to the large amount of points (splines) fusion 360 begins to be extremely slow making it impossible to use the program normally. Another issue is that after modeling the route, I still don’t know how to make the change in altitude be gradual. Since between the main points there are ascents and descents.

Could you give me tips on the best way to model what I want?

Pics are attached

i would like to thank you all in advance
