You know how people on the neighborhood pages are always looking for recommendations and people are always like “well then use the search!” but sometimes the most recent result is from 1+ years ago? I started making a map (got the idea from r/LosAngeles)
I left the categories pretty general 1) to encourage people to click around looking at new names or navigating by each neighborhood, and 2) because there are SO MANY unique spots in Baltimore, if we get too specific, then the map will be too hard to manage. Trying to focus on local/independent stores/small local franchise, a few corpos may have slipped through oops.
Already, I have some ideas for how I may change up the layout, names, etc, but I’d love some feedback to see if it’s going in the right direction? Google’s MyMaps is limited in its customizable quality for the map itself… but it’s a free platform that has the widest database of businesses and their current standing.
If y’all think it’s looking aight, then I might be able to either look for some others to help create the map (invited through Google Drive) or create a poll-style submission box for people to submit suggestions. Editors will check the box on occasion and pull any names that are frequently submitted to add to the board!
