A watershed map of the United States used by the United States Geologic Survey. You can visit the USGS Website to locate what watershed region you live in with a lot of granularity. I think it’s really cool to see rivers and waterflow mapped in such a way. It’s also interesting to see the borders of states, as well as Canada and Mexico, compared to watersheds. The plains states for instance, roughly coinciding with the Missouri and Arkansas-White-Red watersheds, split groundwater resources. Do you think water resources could be managed better if they weren’t split up like they are? Or is there enough collaboration and concern within states and sufficient oversight by the federal government to manage these resources? submitted by /u/PartTimeSinner |
