Autrova’s First Mal

Hi everyone,

I’m D. D. Franco, a writer. I’m writing a contemporary fantasy set in 2009 in a fictional country in the middle of the Atlantic.

I took some inspiration from your suggestions to create some cities (and their names). Tidepeak, Port Pollis, South Catherina, and Old Mummery were already cities that either appeared or were mentioned in the first book of my series. The other ones will appear in the future ones.

What are your thoughts on the map and how could I improve it?

In the first version of the book, Austrova was located west of California, near the Hawaiian Islands. For reasons of delving into the country’s past, I decided to move it to the middle of the Atlantic, where it would open up opportunities for new stories and old conflicts.

The Vikings arrived first where approximately Port Pollis is, while other people populated the south. Some have suggested that the Romans should populate the south, but I have doubts about their mastery of navigation at that time. However, as many says, there is no limits for one man’s imagination.

Saint Brendan was an inspiration for some islands.

Port Pollis is the most developed city because it was one of the first cities. Their primary activities is exportation of products due to their location. They also do mining because of the icy moutains that surrounds the city, fishing, and several other industries.

The protagonist of the first book spends most of his time in Tidepeak, a small, old coastal town founded by the British.
