Another plea for a high contrast GPS map app – September 22, 2022 at 04:56AM

I don’t want to pay for Blindsquare until I’m sure I’ll be able to see the map. Is it very high contrast?

Waze seems higher contrast than the no-contrast of Google or Apple maps, but the contrast on Waze disappears when you put in directions and it also has no public transit or walking directions. However, I’m happy to have been able to see my neighborhood on a map for the first time.

MoveIt was useless for contrast and it gives you ad pop-ups.

I tried a free subscription for TomTom Go Navigation on my IPad and there was no contrast plus it didn’t work with voiceover at all. I couldn’t find a way to change the color scheme in the settings.

Google and Apple have also stopped listing out step-by-step walking directions when you use public transit mode. It drives me nuts. I love to be able to visualize and memorize everything in advance. It makes me feel more in control. I hate how now it just says “walk 7 minutes then take Bus 4.” Really? Just walk 7 minutes all over the place? That’s going to get me to the bus stop? Even worse, it’s stopped announcing any directions. It just vibrates when I go the wrong way. Utterly useless.
