Did Cad Bane really look down on the Empire? I’ve been seeing this question a lot. In The Book of Boba Fett, Bane tells Cobb Vanth that Boba Fett is a cold blooded killer who worked for the Empire, as if that’s stooping lower than he ever would. But Cad Bane worked for the Sith during the Clone Wars, so isn’t that awfully hypocritical? The answer is yes! That line isn’t about Cad Bane saying he’s morally superior to Boba Fett, it’s about telling Cobb Vanth that Boba Fett isn’t some hero worth fighting and dying for. We’ve never seen Cad Bane work with the Empire, but he has always followed the credits when it came to his line of work. He kidnapped babies and delivered them to the Sith, for crying out loud! I’m sure he’d work for the Empire if they offered. But no, Cad Bane isn’t saying he’s better than Boba Fett by calling him a cold blooded killer, he’s saying that they’re morally exactly the same.
