Did you know the TIE Bomber was originally created for A New Hope and not The Empire Strikes Back? Joe Johnston created the concept art as a TIE Boarding Craft. While the ship doesn’t appear in the film, its bent wing shape was repurposed for Vader’s TIE Fighter when it was decided he should have a special ship. The TIE Bomber would go onto first appear in Marvel’s Star Wars issue twelve in 1978.
