According to the book Secrets of the Sith, people outside of the known galaxy have legends about the Knights of Ren, who were known as a band of marauders said to have burned their way across worlds, consuming everything in their path. The group we know of as the Knights of Ren are certainly a similar group, but they were not the originals.
