Did Palpatine ACTUALLY Follow the Rule of Two – Star Wars Explained #Shorts –

Did Palpatine follow the Rule of Two? Not really. Even though it’s not canon anymore, the novel Darth Plagueis by James Luceno make it clear that both Plagueis and his master, Darth Tenebrous, felt that the time for the Rule of Two had ended, even admitting that most Sith Lords before them had failed to uphold Darth Bane’s legacy. Tenebrous had a secret apprentice. Plagueis planned to rule the galaxy indefinitely, never fully sharing his power with Sidious. And of course Palpatine had several apprentices while his sights were set on Anakin Skywalker, and even after gaining Darth Vader as an ally, Sidious constantly tested him and threatened to replace him with any number of followers. By Palpatine’s time the Rule of Two was effectively no more.
