The Mandalorian mentions a Great Purge of Mandalore. So what was it? Shortly before the start of the Galactic Civil War, Mandalorians, led by Bo-Katan and Sabine Wren, fought against Imperial control of their homeworld. They were successful, but only briefly. The Empire brought their full might against the Mandalorian people and their planet, supposedly turning it to glass. Enough Mandalorians lost their lives in the fighting that by the time of the New Republic, they were a rare sight across the galaxy. To add insult to injury, the Empire took the armor of the fallen warriors and melted it down into pure beskar.
