After they used up all the WoW TCG art, the art has been getting more cartoonish. I think hearthstone is meant to be cartoony and wacky in itself. Heck, one of the main plot points is that a gang of evil straps rockets to dalaran and literally steals it. The new card art really represents the silliness factor of hearthstone.
