Diver & Fish Constellation Rimex – Sans fish

large_preview_Diver_print_setup_.png

I was looking for a deep sea diver for my melodramatic maritime scene and MaxGrueter’s was the best one. I scaled it to 30% and puffed out the impression in the pants where the fish went and deleted the hanging hook in meshmixer since I didin’t need it. The first 2 attempts at printing failed due to the included supports being too narrow at the reduced scale. In Cura, I increased the supports density to about 25%, blocked the supports at the feet and ended up with a great detailed print with almost no post printing clean up.

I used a 22 gauge silicone wire as the air hose. The insulation was a little too thick for the hands to hold, so I cut the insulation at the proper spots and worked the bare wire into the hands and pushed the insulation together. You can kind of see it in the close ups, but looks convincing at a regular distance. As to the hose hook up into the helmet in the back, at first I tried super glue but it didn’t work with the silicone. I drilled a pin size hole into the helmet hose fitting and inserted a short piece of pin into the insulation and glued the pin into the helmet. Very happy with the results. Many thanks, MaxGrueter.

The squid was purchased on Amazon long before I got into 3d printing.
