Worst/Best match I’ve ever had (short story) – February 21, 2021 at 10:43PM

Back during the Boomsday/Rhastakan Rumble era I had a match in ranked against a druid player. I recognised his deck instantly as it was a the top meta deck at the time.

Turn 1 he ropes till the very end and then plays and ends turn.

Okay he’s back let’s go!

Turn 2 he plays his stuff and then ropes again.

By turn 3 I realized what was going on. I was thinking he probably gets lots of free wins from concedes when he ropes the entire game. Unfortunately for him I love long control v control matchups (I play Warlock) and I was willing to take my time too.

For about 4 or 5 turns I mimicked him and played my turn first and then roped until I got bored and returned to a normal pace. He eventually started playing at a slightly normal pace for a few turns as the match was at its most intense but returned to roping at the end.

It was a close one too. I remember we both ran out of cards in deck and I got down below 5hp near the end but managed to find some way out and win!

After that nearly HOUR LONG game I get a friend request from him right away. I just remember the huge grin on my face and the satisfaction I felt at that moment. I accepted it and wanted to hear what he had to say and no surprise it was a bunch of angry insults and crap. The dude sent like 50 messages in a 2 minute span and I was laughing hysterically. I egged him on a little and maybe even challenged him to a rematch.

But yeah, I never got to share that with anyone and I was thinking about it today. That was my all time worst/best hearthstone match ever.
