This is the completion of a project that I started some time back, prompted by a question from someone in a Failbook group.
They’d asked what had happened to Dridge’s Unknown Mech Beacon and as anyone who’s read some of my recent output will know, has become Unobtanium due the Great Knee-jerk Cull Bot being let loose. I went looking through my downloads so I could reupload them and found this.
So this project started life as simply taking Dridge’s mini and adding it to capnbishop’s hex base, a simple enough remix and not one I thought warranted publishing.
Then I realised that I’d need four unique identifiers for an Interior Orb platoon and set about designing four bases with symbols on them and never went back until today.
Today, I realise that FightTech platoon numbers can vary, Tribes having five while StellarCom have six, so I just spent the last hour finishing off the set.
What we have here are not only the individual stls but the set as assembled but unmerged components in a .3mf format. This means if you have an editor capable of opening and editing .3mf files, such as Windows 10 3D Builder, you can knock yer socks off playing with your own versions.
Unfortunately, thanks to the Cull Bot, I can’t do the right thing and link to the original author’s files but their names will be tagged.
Have fun!
[Update] I added smaller versions of the mechs. The originals are around 50mm tall and printing four will take around five hours to print at 0.2mm on an FDM printer. Shrinking the minis by 20% shaves about 40% off the print time.
Pick which ever suits you 😉
