Print some satisfying swimmers with Fish Tessellation with Box. An original design shared exclusively on Cults. Custom box included.
So many ways to play!
- Dual Extrusion: Two-color fish have raised stripes pleasing to touch.
- Single Extrusion: One-color fish with engraved stripes for texture and visual interest or print the “Together” model for raised stripes.
- Single Extrusion with Filament Swap: Use “Together” model and swap filament after 2mm to create raised stripes for the final 1 mm.
- Single Extrusion and Markers or 3D Pen: Print the tile with engraved or raised stripes and use markers or a 3D pen to color and decorate.
- Palette/MMU Print: Use multi-color printing on the single model for different effects.
- Duplication Mode: Print single-color fish twice as fast.
- Mix and Match!
Box Included with Download
The box holds 16 fish with raised stripes, but will hold more with the engraved stripes. The lid may be printed plain with single extrusion or include the fish design for two, three, or four colors. See the screenshots for some possible combinations.
My Tessellation Collection
Approximate Dimensions:
Fish Tile: 99 x 63 x 2 mm. Raised stripes add 1 mm height
Box Bottom: 116 x 76 x 56 mm
Box Lid: 119 x 80 x 16 mm
Note: There is 0.6 mm perimeter gap between box and lid in the model. Also, the models for the tiles have 0.2 mm gap when put together.
I printed mine with 0.3 mm layer height and enough solid layers that they are essentially 100% infill. No raft. No supports. (Unless printing the engraved fish upside down. Some supports certainly needed for the eye. I did this for one of my lids. Photo coming soon. It’s printing at the moment.)
