I’ve lived in Spain, the UK and China. From what I see on YouTube, DIY appears to be biggest in the US, where you can buy just about anything, both tools and materials. In the UK and Spain it’s also fairly big but, being smaller countries, you can’t always get the exact stuff you need or saw on the internet. Nice wood was easier to find in Spain than the UK, at least from local DIY depots. In China hardly anyone is into DIY and quality wood is very hard to source, a lot of it being low density pine and cheap crappy plywood, though you can find virtually everything else for very little money, for example: t-slot alu, steel pipe, 3D printing, PCB and CNC services, nuts, bolts, brackets…—anything as long as it’s not good wood.
I’m curious about other countries though. I’m looking for a new job anywhere in the world and would rather go someplace with a DIY culture. I’m especially curious about European countries and Australia.
