Baby Mobile with African Grey Parrots

large_preview_Top_Cap.png

Here is a fairly major remix of Doupem’s excellent Baby Mobile.

A more-or-less ground up re-design introducing the following changes/features :

  1. No more messing about with old CD drives, and noisy rubber bands and pulleys….this uses much quieter direct-drive motor for rotation, using readily available synchronous motor (i.e. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B000KHBV10/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_3.PPEbB8CMTB3)

  2. Much stronger connection between tree trunk and upper motor housing, the weakest part of original design.

  3. Wire is now fully encapsulated throughout the design.

The cable channel in the trunk is printed within one section, and is now a smooth path allowing the cable to be pushed through easily from top to bottom.

  4. The trunk cap is now completely cosmetic, meaning number of fastenings could be reduced, and the wiring cannot be pinched accidentally.

  5. The wire feeds directly into the new main housing at the top of the mobile, and equally feeds directly though into the trunk base, for easy wiring to the switch.

  6. Power switch integrated into trunk base. Requires switch such as https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0743GMJRD/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_5bQPEbW4F644K

  7. Cable tie anti-strain relief for the main power cable.

  8. Branches are now positively locked into the branch holder using M3x3 grub screws.

  9. Leaves are now positively locked to the branches using M3x3 grub screws.

  10. Hole sizes reduced in leaf and plastic loop size reduced on parrots, perfect now for thin fishing line to be used.

  11. Multi-material Parrot with appropriate loops. if you don’t have multi-material, use the parrot from the original item.

  12. All parts optimised for 3D printing (though will need orienting properly in your slicer software)

Print Instructions/Suggestions

  1. Print 4 pieces of branch and leaf
  2. For all other items, only 1 print is required
