40MM NATO to Delta Plus M3000 Mars Series Filter Adapter
This prototype design for a 40 MM NATO, gas mask thread, to legacy Delta Plus M3000 Mars series filter adapter. This adapter makes any RD40x1/7 threaded full face CBRN masks compatible with Delta Plus line of legacy Mars series chemical, combination, and particle filter cartridges to help mitigate PPE shortages by expanding greater cross compatibility of respirators and filters to other manufacturer models.
Part Description:
40MM_TO_DELTA_PLUS_M3000_ADAPTER_GEN1.stl
Single piece construction adapter for Delta Plus M3000 Mars series filters that not require clocking. Additionally, due to the legacy nature of the filter, decided not to design a two piece version that is backwards compatible with the 40MM to 3M outer shell.
Disclaimers/Risks:
1.) It would appear that the Delta Plus M3000 Mars respirators that the gasket is on the filter side, however, please ensure to use Teflon tape on threads, gasket or o-ring is properly installed between assembly joint for proper seal.
2.) 3D printing materials are not resistant to many solvents, are water soluble, and degrade when exposed to chemicals. 3D printing this adapter is only a temporarily ad-hoc solution against biological threats. Once supply chain return to normal users should purchase OEM OSHA/NIOSH/EN standard approved adapters and respirator accessories.
Dev. Notes:
04/24/2020 – Initial model release. I do not have any Delta Plus series respirators or filters to check measurements, so please report back in comments for any fitment issues and I’ll release revisions as required.
