TIP: Print at 100.5% to 101% size, as the shrinkage might make the fit too tight!!
This is a custom flange mount to the Nikon kit lenses (should work with most automatic lenses) that allows you to clamp a tarp or a plastic bag to protect the camera body while shooting outside. I made to make timelapses with my camera, since sometimes I leave the camera unattended for many hours. If it rains now, there’s minimal to no damage to the camera and lens.
The flange engages on the outside notch the Nikon lenses have, instead of the 52mm thread, since printing threads that fine is pretty much impossible in most 3d printers. This achieves an amazing engagement with the lens and is very rigid!
I made a little video showing how it is supposed to mount and how I mount the bag on it. While shooting I messed up and did most of the work off-frame, but it is still watchable (and I’m not doing it again, sorry!). Sorry about that!
Hope you can find this useful!
