40MM NATO to MSA® Bayonet Adapter
This prototype design for a 40 MM NATO, gas mask thread, to MSA® bayonet adapter. The adapter should make RD40x1/7 threaded full face CBRN masks compatible with MSA® Advantage chemical, combination, and particle cartridges.
Part Description:
40MM_TO_MSA_BAYONET_ADAPTER_MONO.stl
Single piece construction adapter, for MSA® Advantage filters that do not require clocking.
40MM_TO_MSA_BAYONET_ADAPTER_INNER_SHELL_LOW.stl
40MM_TO_MSA_BAYONET_ADAPTER_OUTER_SHELL_LOW.stl
Two piece construction, not just for clocking purposes, but to also allow cross compatibility to outer shell of previous Gen 4 40 MM to 3M™ bayonet adapter. Tolerance are more forgiving, lower, to enable ease of 3D printer variation.
40MM_TO_MSA_BAYONET_ADAPTER_INNER_SHELL_HIGH.stl
40MM_TO_MSA_BAYONET_ADAPTER_OUTER_SHELL_HIGH.stl
Two piece construction, not just for clocking purposes, but to also allow cross compatibility to previous outer shell of Gen 3 40 MM to 3M™ bayonent adapter. Higher tolerance parts requiring proper scaling and calibrated 3D printer.
Disclaimers/Risks:
1.) Requires gasket/o-ring, below bayonet to ensure proper seal between cartridge and bayonet.
2.) 3D printing materials are not resistant to many solvents, are water soluble, and degrade when exposed to chemicals. 3D printing this adapter is only a temporarily ad-hoc solution against biological threats. Once supply chain return to normal users should purchase OEM OSHA/NIOSH/EN standard approved adapters and respirator accessories.
Dev. Notes:
04/06/2020 – Initial model release. In work, pending support and feedback from 3D printing community for any fitment and model revisions.
