I enjoy playing board games, and Miyabi is one of my latest favorites. I love keeping everything neat and tidy, and setup is a breeze with this organizer. I was inspired by several different designs on Thingiverse, with shout-outs to:
(1) SciFi Small Part Storage Crates by AndrewBougie https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1489606
These are great for all the player pieces! I resigned the box to have 4×1 small openings so it would fit the board game box. I printed each drawer with the corresponding player color for easy identification. I added a recess in the back of each drawer for a round 3mm diameter and 3mm deep magnet. These are readily available on Amazon or eBay for under $10 for a 100 or more. (They have multiple uses and are great for other 3d printing projects) https://www.amazon.com/Magnets-Refrigertor-Whiteboard-Durable-Multi-Use/dp/B07BNTF6NL
I then super glued a small 5mm thin washer to the inside of each drawer compartment inside the box so the magnet would have something to stick to. This keeps the drawers from accidentally sliding out when the box is tipped on its side.
I designed a Miyabi name plate to super glue to the top of the box, to easily identify which side is face up. I printed this with two contrasting filaments. I thought this would be a better option to separate the print files rather than trying to integrate the name on the box side into one print file. Without the name plate, I found myself opening the drawer with the box upside down, which creates a mess with all the pieces falling all over the place.
(2) Large Divided Box with Sliding Lid by jolars https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:677037
I remixed this box so there would be three compartments, and adjusted the dimensions. The largest compartment is for the bonsai tree and round marker disc. The middle compartment is for the resource tile which shows the number of tiles per round by player count & the six round bonus discs. The smallest compartment is for the four wooden green frog squares. And I resigned the lid to match the pattern present throughout the game and this organizer.
(3) Fallout Board Game Tiles Holder by KrisWall https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2687193
The polyomino holders were a remix of KrisWall’s idea. I changed the cut out design on the lids to a traditional Japanese asanoha pattern, which matches the background design on the tiles. I started with the idea these holders would have small bumps and corresponding recesses in the lids, but those really weren’t needed. If your printer doesn’t print them due to the small size and lack of detail, it should be fine anyway.
The small 3rd quad box and lid is for the square zen garden tiles and the expansion variant tiles.
