covidstop.ca face guard –
This is a simple to assemble face guard to help our front line health care workers prevent particulates from hitting the face and eyes. Based loosely on Prusa’s Face guard design with a few key differences:
-Assembly is super fast, requires no tools (no hole punch or straps)
-Sheets friction fit into the grooves
-Straps are 2.85 TPU filament cut from a reel
You will need the following:
-3D print of frame
-A small length of 2.85 mm TPU filament (or similar)
-A PETG sheet approximately 9.5″ x 9.5″ 0.5mm thick
The side clips provide enough tension for the TPU not to pull back, but are adjustable for comfort. Fun fact, TPU doesn’t snag on hair like elastics do.
There’s a lot of these things out there! why make this one? Because This design optimizes for a few things we haven’t found in other designs. Namely quick(er) assembly, and use of materials which we have handy. (TPU95 reels, and Mayku vacuum forming sheets.). Which means, with people contributing printed frames, we’ll be able to assemble many of these in a short time. So if you have a printer I encourage you to contribute your printing time!
