Table tennis Oculus VR accessory – thicker handle, stronger clamp wall

ensemble.jpg

The original thing is amazing. All props go to the authors.

The small modifications I made here are:

  1. the clamp that is attached to the body, prints a bit thin. It becomes transparent (at least on my makerbox replicator+). It doesn’t look like is any weaker in the range that matters, but i made it thicker just in case.

  2. the handle on the original is a bit thin for my liking. I took one of my paddle, and measured the handle in various locations, and scaled the handle here to match. (slightly thicker in both dimensions, and slightly longer.

The update added about 2 grams.

i printed it on a makerbox replicator + , 19% infill, 2 shell, with supports and raft

…the support and rafts are annnnnoying to take off. But this might just be a 3d printing issue in general 🙂

One thing to note, because of the new shape, and how it flanges out a bit, the surface of the grip needs to be sanded and/or finished somehow. Otherwise i can see it hurting your hand.

I’ll be including a position preset in the game (Eleven Table Tennis) for everyone to be select.

(this is for a RiftS / Quest touch controller).

UPDATE:

user “mvoosten” suggested i print at a different angle. It’s amazing this way..no sanding needed. I also tried 15% instead of 19…seems fine.
