F-16 Engine Startup, Pre-Flight Check, Plus Some Afterburner Takeoffs—Monte Real Air Base, Portugal –

The United States and Portuguese Air Forces operate side by side, preparing and subsequently taking off from Monte Real Air Base to participate in sorties.

You will have noted that this video provides quite a rare and extensive insight into the crew chief’s critical role in ensuring the Fighting Falcon aircraft under his care is ready to fly.

(The USAF aircraft featured are assigned to the 480th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron; they are currently completing a Flying Training Deployment throughout Europe.)
