Star Wars Fan 3D Prints a Life-Size Droideka | CBR

A Star Wars fan recently made a life-size 3D print of a Droideka, showing once again that the sky’s the limit when it comes to what people can do with 3D printing technology, as well as further proving the dedication of Star Wars fans.

A photo of the Droideka was posted by Reddit user sublime119 to r/nextfuckinglevel — a subreddit that serves as a spot for people to post pictures, GIFs and videos that are, you guessed it, next level. The Separatist droid can be seen among various other pieces of Star Wars merchandise and memorabilia.

One of the various battle droids utilized by the Trade Federation, Droidekas first appeared in Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace. Commonly referred to as “destroyer droids” (or simply “destroyers”), Droidekas can curl into a ball and roll around at high speeds. When not curled, they can operate on their three legs and utilize a shield generator while firing their blasters. These “rollies,” as they were colloquially called by Clone Troopers, had a strong presence throughout the Clone Wars.

Fortunately for all involved, 3D printing has no way of replicating a shield of any kind, so this particular Droideka is, for all intents and purposes, defenseless. (But who knows what new technologies await in the future.) That being said, if you would like to buy this droid, you may be out of luck. When asked how much they would sell the 3D-printed Droideka for, sublime119 replied, “$2,000,000,000,000.” That is a lot of credits!
