Silver Star LesPaul Guitar Body

large_preview_LP5_V3.png

Les Paul style solid body

I chose to design this thing because I wanted the feel and heft of a solid body guitar. I modeled it after my own LP kit guitar using a 3 Humbucker Pickup design.

The Les Paul design calls for a 3.5 degree angle where the neck connects, this didn’t work very well on this design, so I included both a flat and angled set of designs for the neck pocket. Also I included a 3.5 degree wedge to use in conjunction with the angled neck pocket to reduce the angle if you wanted.

Materials totals take into account I already had the electrics on hand.

I purchased a LesPaul style neck and back plate, Tune-O-Matic Bridge set, Tuning Pegs.

I will link to materials below. My total cost for this project around $150

The final desing of this project uses about 1.5 kg (1500 g) of PLA. I printed this prototype using the following settings… YMMV of course.

NOTE: The bridge and tailpiece anchors are HEAT SUNK. The holes are too tight to just slip in… Also BE SURE TO THREAD THE GROUND THROUGH THE PATHWAY AND ATTACH TO THE ANCHOR BEFORE INSERTION.

All wiring paths are layed out.

ALL OUTER SECTIONS ARE PRINTED UPSIDE DOWN

This ensures the same finish and no need for supports in the component compartments.

Assembly is good ol’ Gorilla Glue and Clamps. I designed the pieces to allow for clamping so try the holes and star for clamping points.

In this project I have used the following from Thingivers…

  1. Les Paul Parts by Bitflow https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3014682
  2. Plain truss rod cover (Slanted) by Truefawkes https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2147542

I added a Lightening Bolt (nod to Ace Frehley)

I have included the entire project inventory in a .3mf file for MS 3D Builder as well as individual .stl files

You can use whichever Humbucker pickup and wiring kit you wish. I used this set which I already had on hand.

These also have good sound… https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00RJIE944/ref=psdc_11968571_t1_B07F84JCVX

This wiring kit is also ok to use…https://www.amazon.com/Prewired-3-position-Humbucker-Electronics-Replacements/dp/B07M83RHXK/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=electric+guitar+wiring&qid=1580270200&s=musical-instruments&sr=1-2

You will have to de-solder for installation as it comes premade.

I hope you enjoy this project… I sure have.
