Ender 3 Hemera Mount

large_preview_COMPLETE.png

This an E3D Hemera mount for the Ender 3 and other printers with the same Creality mount. It fits a 5015 fan and an EZABL/EZABL Pro or other 18mm inductive sensor.

I advise you to print the fan duct in either PETG or ABS depending on what you will be printing. PLA will probably melt.

Print the Fan Duct with supports on the build plate only. Everything else prints without supports. Print the structural parts with 20% infill or more. Print everything with 3 perimeters.

Offset is: X 68

Hardware required:

[x16] M3 8mm BOLT

[x2] M3 20mm BOLT

[x8] M3 NUT

Written Instructions:

-Follow E3D’s Hemera assembly instructions at: https://e3d-online.dozuki.com/Guide/02+-++E3D+Hemera+Direct+Assembly/127
NOTE It may be easier to perform the hot tightening before installing the Hemera. If you do, install the sock on the block after it’s cooled down.

-Strip your Ender 3 hotend down to the carriage plate.

-Raise your X axis to a comfortable height.

-Remove the Roller assemblies and set them aside, OR you can leave it attached.

-Remove the Ender 3 plate, or leave it on. I prefer to remove it.

-Place the printed adapter onto the Ender 3 plate. Screw in [4] M3 8mm bolts into the holes on the flat side of the adapter into the threaded side of the Ender plate.

-Insert the top two M5 30mm Roller assembly bolts into the two corresponding holes on the flat side of the Hemera adapter if you’re using one of the adapters with the holes for them. Screw them in until they are seated inside their cutouts. No need to keep tightening them. We’ll do that later.

-Grab the bottom Roller assembly. The one with the eccentric nut. This will be installed backwards. The Nylon nut will be facing towards the Hemera. Tighten the bottom Roller.

-Flip the Hemera adapter over to the rounded side and insert [3] M3 8mm bolt’s into the three counterbored holes on the left of the mount.

-Insert two M3 square nuts into the left side of the Hemera while the nozzle is to your right.

-Attach the adapter to the Hemera using the previously installed M3 8mm bolts. Tighten the bolts evenly in a criss-cross pattern ensuring the adapter sits flush against the Hemera. Ensure the Hemera is sitting flush/flat against the adapter.

-Flip the Hemera over and install [2] M3 square nuts on the right side of the Hemera, while the nozzle is on your left.

-Grab the Universal M3 Mount. Point the arrow up. Install [5] M3 nuts in the correct slots. Look at the pictures if you’re confused.

-Grab the 5015 Fan M3 Mount and insert [3] M3 nuts into the [3] slots.

-Insert the 5015 Fan into the Fan duct and verify it fits. It slides in at a 40 degree angle. Once you confirmed it fits, remove it from the duct. IT’S A SNUG FIT, BE GENTLE OR YOU RISK BREAKING IT

-Attach the Universal M3 mount to the front of the Hemera using [3 or 4] M3 8mm bolts. You can leave the bottom right bolt somewhat loose, we’ll be removing it later. The bottom left bolt can be left out if you run into issues adjusting the fan mount later on.

-Next slide [2] Roller Assembly spacers onto the top two M5 bolts.

-You’re going to be installing the Hemera on the 2020 rail now. Slide on both top Roller assembly wheels and nylon nuts and tighten them.

-Verify the carriage slides easily and adjust the eccentric nut as required until everything feels right. After doing so, reattach the belt.

-Grab the 5015 Fan mount and loosely screw in [2] M3 8mm bolts. Leave it loose enough that you are able to slide the Fan mount up and down. We’re going to tighten these after we adjust the fan duct height.

-Lower your X axis until the nozzle is barely touching the bed.

-Using [1] M3 8mm bolt, attach the Fan duct to the Fan mount.

-Slide a 2-5mm thick object under the Fan duct to raise it to the correct height. Once it’s in the correct position, tighten the two Fan Mount M3 bolts to hold it in place.

-Unscrew the Fan Duct from the Fan mount.

-Insert the 5015 fan into the fan duct. Reattach the Fan Duct using the M3 8mm bolt first. Then screw in [2] M3 20mm bolts through the fan to the Fan Mount. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN THESE.

-Verify the Fan duct is an adequate distance above the nozzle and clears the bed. If you don’t the Fan Duct will hit your prints.

-Install the Sensor Mount using [3] M3 8mm bolts on the bottom right of the Universal Mount. Insert your sensor. The sensor offset is labelled on the bottom of the mount. X 68.

Enjoy.
