Tensions between Downing Street and the White House were underlined after it emerged that Theresa May and Donald Trump will not hold private talks during his state visit to Britain. The two leaders are at odds over a range of issues including trade, the role of Nato, the potential role of Huawei in Britain’s 5G network and relations with Iran. The President has also criticised her Brexit negotiating strategy and waded into the Tory leadership contest by praising Boris Johnson.
