Jaw exercising device

large_preview_Maxilla.png

Yesterday an ad online about a jaw exercising device started showing up. I was really curious as to whether it worked or not and if there was any way I could recreate a similar device on my 3D printer. So through the day I designed this contraption that took a bunch of tries to get right.

I’m pretty happy with what I came up with. The resistance the spring exerts is on point for what the jaw muscles are capable of, and the grooves up and below seem to at least match my teeth pretty nicely. The main purpose of the grooves is to distribute the mechanical stress evenly on as most teeth as possible, and there’s also multiple grooves depending on the size of the teeth.

I would recommend PLA to be used on this print as it is non toxic as opposed to some other printing materials.
