U.S. Marines with 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, practice skiing at Hokkudaien Training Area, Hokkaido, Japan, January 23.

Northern Viper is a regularly scheduled training exercise that is designed to enhance the interoperability of the U.S. and Japan Alliance by allowing infantry units to maintain their proficiency and lethality in infantry and combined arms tactics.
