Could Nightsisters Use the Light Side to Power Their Magick? –

Could Dathomirian Nightsisters use the light side to power their magick? The Clone Wars and other stories surrounding Nightsisters have always described their magick as being powered by the dark side of the Force. That’s how they are all taught to wield it. But the book Star Wars Jedi: Battle Scars sheds some new light on that aspect of the Force. One of the few surviving Nightsisters of the galaxy, Merrin, has a great character arc in the story, learning to overcome her anger and need for vengeance for what happened to her kind. She uses the magick through the dark side for most of the book, but by the end of the story is able to learn to harness her powers not through a desire for revenge for the family she lost, but instead through the love she held for the new family she created. I think that’s proof enough that Nightsister magick doesn’t *have* to be powered by the dark side only. Like any other aspect of the Force, there is dark *and* light to be found.
